The Best Of Chair Throws

For those that are partial to a lazy Sunday Afternoon or lighting a particularly strong scented candle on a blustery weekday evening, you will know that a warm and comfortable chair throw is the key to creating the perfect night in.

“Curl up on your favourite chair next to the fireplace and stick on a feel-good movie.”

Finding the perfect chair throw isn’t an easy task, however. For starters the throw has to be comfortable, you do plan on wrapping yourself in from head to toe. It has to be large enough so you can fit under it alongside the occasional armchair intruder.

The throw has to be made from a material that you feel comfortable with both from a physical and ethical standpoint. This is only just looking at the practicality of the chair throw too, you want it to look good too right?

A chair throw can add instant depth to a space and can create a feeling of warmth and homeliness as well as an air of style.

Choosing the right design, colour, material and brand can be hard too. Would a brown throw work on my green chair? Or how would a striped neutral throw look against my wicker armchair?

Take a look at some of our favourite chair throws from some wonderful brands or designers. Take some inspiration and envisage your Saturday night in snuggling under your new cosy throw.

Are chair throws warm?

Chair throws are a perfect way to warm yourself up, especially in the colder months. If sometimes your downstairs rooms get a little chilly, then instead of lighting the fire or heating the whole house may be investing in a super warm chair throw is the answer.

The warmth of the chair throw depends on the material, synthetic materials are often stylish and can be purchased for a low cost however tend to be lightweight and not overly warm. Cotton throws are slightly heavier and offer a little more warmth. Sheep wool and Alpaca fibre are the warmest of all the throw materials, the structure of the wool naturally traps heat and will keep your toes extra toasty.

how big are chair throws?

The size of a chair throw depends completely on the size of the chair and the size of the person sitting in said chair.

We would recommend your chair throw to be at least 130cm x 110cm. You should be able to happily cocoon underneath when curled up on your chair.

Can you wash chair throws?

Chair throws will normally have the washing instructions attached or on the brand’s website. Most synthetic throws should be able to be washed in the washing machine. Natural materials like cotton and wool should be washed with care, we would recommend hand washing wool and alpaca throws.

How to lay throws on chairs?

A chair throw can really change the look of your living room chair. Displaying the throw neatly folded hanging down from the top of the chair adds a certain touch of class, one that you would associate with a swanky co-working space.

A throw that is hanging off the arm of a chair is a subtle touch that can add a layer of warmth to a space. Otherwise, go bold and go for the crinkled throw look so it appears it has just been thrown on to the chair.

How to store throw blankets

Throws should be stored in an airtight bag or box in a dry room.

Where to buy throw blankets

You can buy chair throws from many online stores. Occasionally branded as something else; sofa throws, bed throws, chair blankets, throw blankets may all fit perfect as a chair throw.
